Erin’s Background

My kindergarten teacher warned my mother that I wouldn’t “accomplish much in life,” because I was always questioning everything- directions, answers, authority. On one occasion, when the teacher told my mother I’d questioned some answer she’d written on the board, my response was, “But, Mommy, she was wrong.” I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful; I was desperately trying to find the truth.

I proudly admit that my quest continues to this day – it remains unending. I search for the truth in all aspects of my life, especially in my work. It is the reason why I was drawn to the practice of law.

I’ve explored many aspects of the practice of law, spending time on both sides of the aisle, representing plaintiffs and defendants. My search for the truth – the correct application of the law for the benefit of everyone – even led me to serve as an appellate court judge hearing civil, criminal, family, and other types of cases within the six counties I served.

While I enjoyed my time on the bench, I missed helping others search for and defend their individual truths. Whether that was holding pharmaceutical companies accountable for dangerous drugs and devices, assisting patent owners with defending their intellectual property, or fighting for families whose very livelihoods were taken by companies that prioritize profit over people. THIS is where the truth and the law meet; THIS is where my endless search for the truth can be used to help others find their way; THIS is my calling. And I am thrilled to continue this calling alongside the fierce women of Carter Law Group. It is gratifying to represent individuals who have faced discrimination and retaliation in the workplace, individuals who have been victims of sexual assault, and individuals who’ve suffered catastrophic injuries. I’m also pleased to bring the skills I learned on the bench to my daily practice and to assist others in navigating the court system and the law.
