Employment
Lawyer in Dallas

Table of Contents

Something happened at work. Maybe you were passed over, pushed out, harassed, or fired after raising a concern. You’re looking for a lawyer who will actually do something about it.

Carter Law Group is a female-owned plaintiffs’ firm that represents employees across Dallas and North Texas. We don’t represent employers. We represent the people employers have wronged.

Every attorney at our firm is a woman. Most of our staff is, too. Clients tell us that’s why they called, and that includes men. We’re not for everyone, and we don’t pretend to be. We’re for the people who want a firm that’s going to actually fight.

Why Employees Choose Carter Law Group

We Go to Trial

Most employment attorneys in Texas won’t take your case to trial. They’ll file the charge, run the administrative process, and settle for what the defendant offers in mediation. If the defendant won’t move, the case dies. We’ve spent the last two years trying four cases to verdict. We built the firm so that going to trial isn’t the exception. It’s the plan from the day you walk in.

Every Attorney Is a Woman

This firm is female-owned and female-led. Amy Carter founded it. Heather Davis runs operations. Kassi Yukevich drives litigation. Clients in sexual harassment, pregnancy discrimination, and gender discrimination cases regularly tell us they wanted a female legal team. So do plenty of clients who don’t fit that description.

We Take the Cases Other Firms Won’t

Amy Carter spent decades in mass tort and complex pharmaceutical litigation, trying cases that required becoming fluent in genetics, engineering, and medicine. That background is why we take on cases other employment firms turn away. Cases that combine multiple legal theories. Cases that cross into workplace sexual assault, premises liability, and products liability. Cases where other lawyers said, “There’s something here, but it’s weird.”

No Out-of-Pocket Costs

We work on contingency. There are no consultation fees, no retainers, and no hourly billing. You pay nothing unless we win. That separates us from most employment firms in Dallas, where you’ll be asked to pay for the initial consultation or put down a retainer before any work begins.

Employment Cases We Handle

We represent employees under Title VII, the ADA, the ADEA, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, the Equal Pay Act, the FMLA, Texas Labor Code Chapter 21, and related state and federal protections. We file charges through the EEOC and the Texas Workforce Commission, handle mediation and pre-litigation negotiation, and try cases when the defendant won’t resolve fairly.

Workplace Discrimination

If you were treated differently at work because of who you are, you may have a discrimination claim. We handle cases involving:

Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment at work includes hostile work environment claims, quid pro quo harassment, and harassment by supervisors, coworkers, clients, or third parties. This is one of our strongest practice areas, and it’s where our female-led identity and trauma-informed approach matter most.

If you were sexually assaulted at work, that may also support a separate civil claim outside the employment law process. The distinction matters because employment discrimination damages are capped under Texas law, but personal injury claims are not. We know how to structure both.

Retaliation and Whistleblower Claims

Retaliation is one of the most provable theories in employment law, and it’s often more viable than the underlying discrimination claim. If you were punished for reporting harassment, requesting a reasonable accommodation, taking medical leave, or raising concerns about illegal activity, you may have a retaliation case.

We focus on two retaliation niches other firms miss. Nurses retaliated against for raising patient-safety concerns have a specific cause of action under Texas law. Workers injured on the job who were fired after filing for workers’ comp may have both a retaliation claim and a product liability claim against the equipment manufacturer.

Wrongful Termination

Texas is an at-will state, but that doesn’t mean your employer can fire you for any reason. Wrongful termination happens when you’re fired in violation of federal or state law, including terminations that follow a protected complaint, an accommodation request, medical leave, or a report of illegal conduct.

Equal Pay

We handle Equal Pay Act and Texas Labor Code claims for unequal compensation between employees performing substantially equal work. In April 2026, we tried an Equal Pay Act retaliation case to verdict in federal court, recovering $1.5 million for the plaintiff against Louisiana State University after the defendant offered $75,000 to settle.

Severance Negotiation

If you’ve been offered a severance package, we can negotiate it. Our fee only applies to the amount we secure above your existing offer. If you came in with a $50,000 offer and we negotiate it to $200,000, we earn our fee on the $150,000 difference. If you have no offer, we negotiate the full package.

EEOC and TWC Filings

We file administrative charges with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Texas Workforce Commission Civil Rights Division. After 180 days, we can request a right-to-sue letter and move the case into federal court. Many cases resolve during the administrative process. We prepare every case for litigation regardless.

How Your Employment Case Works

Free consultation. Every consultation is free. Amy personally reviews leads each morning and decides which cases the firm will accept.

No upfront costs. If we take your case, you sign a contingency agreement. There is no retainer, no hourly billing, and no consultation fee. You pay nothing unless we win.

Pre-litigation. For employment cases, we file an administrative charge with the EEOC or the Texas Workforce Commission, then move through mediation, demand letters, and the 180-day administrative period. Many cases resolve here.

Litigation. If your case requires it, Senior Attorney Kassi Yukevich leads the litigation. This is the phase most firms in this space will not take on.

Trial. We prepare every case as though it will be tried. That changes how defendants negotiate, even when the case settles. In the last two calendar years, we’ve tried four cases to verdict.
